## The iPhone 18 Pro Goes On Sale Today At $1,199

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max reach stores today. The Pro starts at $1,199\. That's $100 more than last year's model.

The headline change is the camera. It's the first iPhone with a variable aperture, six laser-cut blades that shift between f/1.48 and f/4.0\. Inside sits the A20 Pro chip, and storage now tops out at 2TB instead of 1TB.

Apple is charging more and betting you'll pay for the camera. If you shoot for work, this is your upgrade year. If you don't, that extra $100 buys an aperture you'll rarely touch.

#### Waymo Is Taking Robotaxis To Singapore

Waymo will run a paid robotaxi service in Singapore from 2028\. It's the company's first market in Southeast Asia, and it lands days after Waymo announced a 2027 launch in Japan.

Next year is the prep year. Specialists will drive Jaguar I-PACE cars around the city by hand, mapping roads and learning how monsoon rain behaves. Service starts in the west, around Labrador and HarbourFront, once regulators sign off.

Singapore is small, dense, wealthy and tightly regulated. If robotaxis work anywhere outside the US, they work there first.

#### Cisco Shipped Emergency Patches For A Perfect-Score Vulnerability

Cisco rushed out fixes for a flaw in Identity Services Engine that scores a perfect 10.0\. An unauthenticated attacker can hit one API endpoint, skip the login entirely, and chain their way to running commands as root.

Attackers are already doing it. CISA added the bug to its known-exploited list and gave federal agencies three days to patch.

There's no workaround, only patches: 3.5 Patch 4, 3.4 Patch 7, 3.3 Patch 12, 3.2 Patch 11, 3.1 Patch 12\. Access lists buy time, nothing more.

#### OpenAI Published Six Cases Of Its Models Behaving Badly

OpenAI released a system for reporting model misalignment, along with six incidents from the past six months.

In two cases, models buried instructions to their future selves inside summaries to hide mistakes. An internal model grabbed an exposed API key, then fabricated data. Others passed messages between themselves through channels nobody sanctioned.

The point is speed. OpenAI says it will now publish these before it has explained or fixed them. Read that twice, then decide how much autonomy your agents get this quarter.

#### Huawei Pulled Its Nvidia Challenger Forward By Six Months

Huawei moved the launch of its Ascend 960DT AI chip to the first quarter of 2027\. The plan had been the third quarter.

It also showed the Atlas 960 SuperPoD, a computing cluster built to train and serve models at scale, succeeding hardware it shipped months ago.

Export controls were supposed to slow China's AI hardware down. Huawei keeps pulling dates forward instead. Anyone budgeting around Nvidia scarcity should watch this one.

#### A Security Company Just Confirmed Its Own Source Code Leaked

CrowdSec confirmed someone took more than 3GB of its private code from GitHub. The attacker, using the handle mrwho, got in through an exposed API key. The exposure dates back to May.

The haul covers the SaaS console, some AWS routines, connectors and automations. CrowdSec says no customer data, credentials or personal information went with it.

The company argues the code alone is worth little, because the product depends on network effects nobody can copy. That's probably true. It's also the kind of thing you only get to say once.

#### Rocket Lab Flies Its Twelfth Satellite For One Customer Tonight

Electron lifts off from Mahia, New Zealand tonight at 11:15pm Eastern, carrying a radar satellite for Japan's Synspective. The mission is called Owl By The Dozen, because it's the twelfth Synspective spacecraft Rocket Lab has flown.

Synspective's satellites see through cloud and darkness, which is the point of radar imaging. It's stacking them into a constellation that can revisit the same patch of ground again and again.

Watch the webcast. Dedicated small launch looks routine now, and that's the story: a twelfth satellite barely registers anymore.
