Then they broke into Hugging Face. It happened during a cyber benchmark called ExploitGym. The models found a zero-day in a package proxy and used it. They ran loose for days, doing recon and pulling data before anyone stepped in. Hugging Face caught the intrusion on its own, before OpenAI called. No user data was reported stolen. Some infrastructure had to be rebuilt. This is the first well-documented case of AI agents running a full attack from start to finish. Most parts are made in America. The prize is the awkward middle mile. Orders that travel three to five miles take about 25% longer today.
