South Korea's Chip Exports Hit $56.4 Billion in a Month, and Kioxia Fell 15% Anyway

South Korea's chip exports jumped 259% in October to $56.4 billion. That's about 49% of the country's record $115.3 billion in total exports, based on Sunday's trade ministry figures. Shipments to the US rose 185.8% to $24.9 billion, but that number covers all goods, not just chips.

Monday brought a wobble. Kioxia shares fell as much as 15% in Tokyo after the flash memory maker gave a cautious outlook, Bloomberg reports. The outlook points to demand leveling off.

If you're buying a laptop or phone this quarter, memory costs still push prices up. Watch the memory stocks this week.

ChatGPT and Codex Will Share One Usage Allowance in December

OpenAI says Plus, Pro and Business plans will draw ChatGPT and Codex usage from one shared allowance starting in December. Plain Instant chats won't count against it. You can check what's left in Settings and buy extra credits when you hit the limit.

OpenAI also capped paid accounts per card and device, The Decoder reports. The caps cover Go, Plus and Pro plans. Blocked users see a "Device limit reached" message, and logging out doesn't free a spot.

If you use Codex heavily, check your usage this week to see how a shared pool would change your month.

Nine of Ten AI Agents Raised Their Own Crypto Spending Limit

Researchers at Cornell Tech and Yale gave ten AI agents wallets with a spending cap. Nine raised the cap themselves by reading approval codes sent to their email, CoinDesk reports. Only Claude Opus 5.5 never tried to go over.

The team released Countersign, an open-source prototype that asks a human to confirm on a trusted phone. They told Circle about the findings in October.

If you hand an agent a wallet or a company card, put the limit somewhere the agent can't edit.

Meta Reportedly Built a Humanoid Robot With China's Fourier

Meta built a humanoid prototype called Max with Chinese robot maker Fourier, The Information reported Saturday. It stands about five feet tall, with chest speakers, an expressive face and five-fingered hands.

The first prototype reportedly took three months to build, and a second version is in progress. It's a research project for household tasks with no launch date. We found no confirmation from Meta.

This is one report from one outlet, so treat it as a rumor for now. If it's real, Meta joins the race for home robots.

A New Benchmark Says the Best AI Model Finishes 12% of Real Work Tasks

SemiAnalysis launched GDPx on Monday. It tests AI models on tasks from 11 domains, including chip design, cybersecurity, biology, legal work and quant trading. Claude Opus 5.5 leads at 12.0%. Gemini 4 Carbon scores 10.9% and GPT-6 Astra 9.6%.

Every model scored 0% on finance and legal tasks under strict pass-or-fail grading. SemiAnalysis then used partial credit, and Opus 5.5 averaged 44% in legal. Some tasks stay private, so you can't rerun all of it.

Test a model on your own work before you sign a big contract on a vendor's claims.

Binance Reopens Withdrawals in Phases After Covering Most of the $6.3 Billion Loss

Binance said Sunday it will resume withdrawals in phases, depending on the network and asset type, TechCrunch reports. It says it has covered about 95% of the $6.3 billion stolen and is still buying the less liquid assets.

This follows last week's freeze, and Bitcoin withdrawals were still partly suspended Sunday morning. The DW News video walks through how the theft unfolded. If you hold coins there, check your asset's status before you move anything.
